I've always been interested in athletics, starting gymnastics at an early age, and quickly becoming interested in soccer and ultimate frisbee, but I was never interested running or swimming for fun. Those kinds of sports always just seemed boring and without purpose! Additionally, I injured my knees playing soccer in high school (tore my ACL twice!), and didn't believe I could do long distance running.
I ran my first 5K in October 2010 with a friend. The following spring after lots of research, I wrote myself a training plan, and completed my first 10K and half marathon. This first race completely changed my perception what I could do and I have not looked back!
Since I started running in fall 2010, I have completed a number of races including 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, a triathlon, and cycling events. In December 2012 I completed my first marathon! Now, I'm enjoying working on speed, while I dream about my next marathon and few summer triathlons! You can find links to my race recaps here.

Hey Kristen, just came upon you lovely blog :) Oh wow, I was the complete opposite of you in terms of sports. Swimming and later on running were my thing, but I wasn't too big on team sports :) Excited to read your racing journey ^^
